Omicron CT Analyzer Now Available for Rent from Protec

by Protec Tech Team February 22, 2016

Current transformers are used for relaying and metering purposes in electrical power systems. They connect the high power primary side to the protection and metering equipment on the secondary side. Depending on the application they are used for, current transformers are designed differently.

Keep CTs in Good Working Condition with Vanguard EZCT Test Sets

by Protec Tech Team September 25, 2015

Current transformers are often used to convert high currents to a lower one which is safe enough for measuring instruments or protective devices to use. It is also used in monitoring the power facility during operation. It is important to keep them in good working condition because this can cause inaccurate measurements or sometimes damage the electrical facility.

Measure the Burden on CTs and VTs with the Omicron CPC 100 Test System

by Protec Tech Team September 21, 2015

The Omicron CPC 100 Multi-functional Primary Test System allows the verification of the ratio and polarity of CTs and VTs – preventing wrong connections, especially in the case of tapped CTs. Injecting current or voltage into individual CTs / VTs and checking the reading at the relay ensures that phases are not mixed up and that the CT and VT ratio setting in the relay is correct.

Perform Electrical Tests on Various Assets with the Omicron CPC 100

by Protec Tech Team August 21, 2015

With the Omicron CPC 100 Multi-functional Primary Test System electrical tests on transformers, current transformers, voltage transformers, grounding systems, lines and cables, and circuit breakers can be performed.

The Omicron CPC 100 Multi-functional Primary Test System is the base for multiple accessories. These facilitate further applications, such as tan delta measurements, as well as line and ground impedance measurements.

Perform Multiple Current Transformer Tests with the Vanguard EZCT-2000A

by Protec Tech Team July 16, 2015

The Vanguard EZCT-2000A Automated CT Test Set is a microprocessor-based Current Transformer Test Set capable of performing Current Transformer (CT) excitation test, measure the CT current-ratio and polarity and CT winding resistance automatically.

Excitation Test

The CT excitation test is performed using the ANSI/IEEE C57.13.1, IEC 60044-1 test method. The test voltage range for the CT excitation test (50 Vac, 300 Vac, 500 Vac, 1200 Vac or 2000 Vac) can be selected, and then the test voltage is raised and lowered automatically by the Vanguard EZCT-2000A Automated CT Test Set.. The excitation test voltage and current data is collected and stored in the unit’s internal memory. Any of the 10 possible combinations of X1 to X5 can be tested since all of the unit’s test leads can be connected to all of the CT output terminals at the same time. Up to 10 excitation tests can be stored in one record. Once the test is completed, test results can be printed and excitation curves can be plotted on the built-in 4.5-inch wide thermal printer.

Test Current Transformers with Confidence with the Vanguard EZCT-2000

by Protec Tech Team January 29, 2014

Vanguard's EZCT-2000 Automated CT Test Set is designed to be rugged and portable, making it ideal for industrial and field applications. The Vanguard's EZCT-2000 Automated CT Test Set can perform CT excitation, winding polarity and current-ratio tests, all while the current transformer remains in its field-mounted configuration.

Keep Transformers Operational with the Vanguard EZCT

by Protec Tech Team October 22, 2013

Keeping transformers operational requires regular testing to prevent power interruption and possible damage to electrical equipment systems. By scheduling a system of regular diagnostic testing for transformers, problems are detected early thus helping to extend the life of this important equipment while also reducing the chance of accidents.
