Choosing an ABB Secondary Injection Test Kit Suitable for Your Needs

Posted by Protec Tech Team on

ABB 504 Secondary Injection Test Set Secondary injection testing is a diagnostic method of determining if a secondary protective device will respond as  expected in both normal and faulted conditions. This method of testing is conducted by injecting signals directly into the trip unit that controls that operation of the circuit breaker to which it is connected.

Since this type of operational testing is performed by injecting secondary signals into the device instead of using primary current levels, it is generally considered to be a safer method of verifying the proper operation of a circuit breaker. This method of testing can be performed on circuit breakers as a part of commissioning or preventive maintenance.

There are various secondary injection testers to choose from on the market today. When looking for a good secondary injection test set, consider testers from ABB

ABB 504 Secondary Injection Test Set

This tester is specifically designed to test solid-state Power Shield trip units attached to I-T-E protective devices. These breakers have similar characteristics with electromechanical devices but with higher accuracy and selectivity.

504 features:

  • Test the following I-T-E protective units:
    • K-Don 600S
    • K-Don 800S
    • KDon-1600S
    • K-600S
    • K-800S
    • K-1600S
    • K-2000S
    • K-3000S
    • K-4000S
  • Test long-time, short-time and instantaneous trip functions
  • Built-in timer to determine how long the fault-current persists
  • Can test the functionality of signal and power supply sensors
  • Integrated ammeter

ABB 505 Secondary Injection Test Set
